FAQ's

_How does a “Bildungsgutschein” work and how do I receive one?

If you are currently seeking a job and registered with the German unemployment agency called Arbeitsagentur or Jobcenter, you are able to receive a "Bildungsgutschein". The purpose of a Bildungsgutschein is to get you on track and teach you the necessary skills for a specific job. It covers the costs of the course 100%, funded by the government. You can apply for a Bildungsgutschein with your case worker ("Arbeitsvermittler") at the Arbeitsagentur. Our team will guide you along the way and offer assistance where needed.

_Is the Level Up School course eligible for the use of a Bildungsgutschein?

Yes, we have the necessary AZAV-certification that enables job-seekers to apply a Bildungsgutschein for the course. The from the Arbeitsagentur required "Maßnahmenummer" is 962/262/21.

_How many hours a week will the course be?

The course is conducted full-time, meaning 40 hours weekly. This will net you between 900-1200 hours of project work and make you comfortable with the software and techniques, preparing you for the job market.

_Do I receive a certificate for completing the course?

Yes, you will be awarded a certificate upon completion. However, the projects you work on during the year and integrate into your professional portfolio will be more important for showcasing your skills. As an applicant for a job in the game industry and related industries, employers will value your portfolio over your CV.

_What kind of tools will I learn and use during the course?

The main tools and frameworks that you will be using are: Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter and Houdini. The Bildungsgutschein covers the cost of all the necessary software. Additionally, a 32 GB RAM Laptop will be rented to you for the time of your participation in the course.

_What does the course plan look like?

The 3D Game Modeling course is divided into 4 terms with 12 weeks of modules per term, including 4 major projects that you will be working on. You can view a list of the modules here.

_Will Level Up School help me find a job at the end of the course?

To an extent the answer is yes. The final six weeks of the course are dedicated to optimising and brushing up your portfolio, as well as preparing you for your entry on the job market. Furthermore, we have a career service which will assist you whenever you need it. You will be the one applying for jobs though.
